By Daniel Tyson REGISTER-HERALD REPORTER Take a deep breath, Beckley.
That air is some of the cleanest in the country, according to the American Lung Association.
The national organization’s “State of the Air 2015” report, released Thursday, named the Beckley area — which includes Raleigh and Fayette counties — as having some of the lowest particle pollution rates in the nation.
The report also found many areas of southern West Virginia have seen air quality improvements in ozone smog and particle pollution levels, but is still struggling with clean air.
The Beckley area was named one of the cleanest U.S. areas for short-term particle pollution — tiny solids and liquids in the air that can be life-threatening.
