Hi all

I've posted on here before asking about schools and have received some great feedback in the past (thank you ).

I'm now inquiring about Harrison, particularly HHS and would like to learn more about the school and the community as a whole (didn't see anything on here about it).

How is the quality of education at HHS? I realize you have to take ratings, etc. with a grain of salt but I've checked a few different sites and was surprised that Harrison High was not rated well. In fact, they were right on par with districts considered to be below average by Westchester standards. Any ideas why this is?

I want my kids to go to a good school (that's safe), where it's cool to do well, get good grades, etc. but i don't want a pressure cooker environment where kids feel like they failed if they don't get into an IVY. Does Harrison fit into this category?

Also--what is the community as a whole like? Are people in Harrison considered down to earth or does it have a flashy/snobby rep?

Any info you can share would be greatly appreciated!

I know some people in Harrison who send their kids to private school. I have no idea what the reason for the poor ranking of the HS is. As for Harrison, it seems pretty down to earth to me, though there are some nice houses. Lots of Italian-Americans. La Casa Italiana is good for Italian-American type sandwiches.

"flashy/snobby" - these two terms are nearly mutually exclusive in my mind. Someone who is flashy (ostentatious) just looks ridiculous trying to be snobby, because ostentatiousness is so declasse.
I'm not going to be flashy and put in the acute accents on "declasse" ;-).
