Hi all, we had our air conditioning go out the other day and called up a repair guy to take care of it.

He's proposing the following charges for the work:

$204 for a service call
$200 to add 4 lbs of freon.
$450 to install a terminal repair kit, fix a wire to the compressor, and route an extension cord.

Does this sound legit or a bit high?

Thanks!

Sounds high usually when you have the repairs done they reduce/eliminate the service call. Get an additonal quote or two now that the weather is a bit more agreeable.

Ridiculous. That's more than the service contract on the 3 commercial units at my business.

That definitely sounds a bit high, I agree. The service call alone for $204 is a bit much, considering that there is other work to do. I agree that I would shop around. I would check The Franklin Report for some leads on recommended companies, and double-check with some other review sources.
