entertainment and ESPECIALLY dining seem to have HUGE gaps in quality and quantity. obviously it's silly to compare a suburb to one of the greatest cities in the world, but i do think it is a detriment to the community at large.
As a late 20-something you have chosen a location that is a magnet for couples, yuppies, over achievers and anyone else with deep pockets who is seeking the American dream with a back yard. If you want the life and energy that is NYC then move there, one is enough and every location can not be everything to everyone.

Hint: Avoid Long Island it makes Westchester look exciting (according to younger posters)...

I am early 20s and moved to Westchester specifically for the peace and quiet. And not even to southern westchester where it is still busy and has vibrant downtown. I moved to northern westchester where after 7pm everything is shut down.

All my neighbors are older than me or have families. I enjoy outdoor activities like tennis and swimming.

I enjoy cooking at home more than going to restaurants and it saves money to pay for my monthly metro north pass which is not cheap. I go out to resturants for special occasions and often go in to the city to eat at resturants. Get yourself a metro north pass and you will be all set.

As for nightlife I do not enjoy it. What is fun about paying $20 for a drink? And you shouldn't have to go to a bar to meet women, the types you meet at bars aren't the type you want to marry anyway.

My advice is get yourself a metro north pass and quit complaining.
