I will be in the White Plains/Ossining area over a weekend soon. Have booked a hotel in the city and wondered if it was easier to take a train in on sat and return monday afternoon than driving in. (Don't like driving in the city) Also, where do we park and if anyone can give exact train directions, that would be great!!!! Going to 30th and 7th Ave area.

Default Could be easier than

driving in. I'm not sure if Ossining has a train station on the Hudson line of Metro north but on the Harlem line White Plains has a station and I believe it has a parking lot

Take the Metro North from White Plains to Grand Central (E 42 street and Park Ave), then take the 7 train across to Times Square and transfer to the 1,2 or 3 train downtown to the next stop, Penn Station/34th street. This puts you on 7th avenue between 32nd and 34th streets

The main problem with the train will be parking. Since, you're on the Ossining side of the county, take the Hudson Line train to Grand Central Station. I would strongly recommend going to the Croton-Harmon train station as the village does have a specific section for overnight-long term parking. You must check-in with an attendant in the building on Gateway Plaza that's grey with a blue awning. And, you must pay in person, in advance. They are open until 8pm weekdays, 6pm Saturday, and 4pm Sunday, but I believe this is only for payment and you can retrieve your car at any time.

Here are a couple of links for you:

The Scarborough station is very close (if not IN) Ossining...But the train would be the way to go!

Croton and White Plains both have good parking and frequent train service. I believe Ossining is more of a local stop with less parking than Croton Harmon.
