Was wondering if there are any groomed cross country ski and snow shoe trails around? Thanks

No. There are some places to cross country ski on natural snow:

Good article - most of the information is still relevant. Here's updated info on cross country ski rentals at Pineola Inn & Ski Shop. Funny directions on their website... they say that Pineola is located on US 221, 100 miles north of Spartanburg. A closer reference is that Pineola is located close to Linville, and not far from Banner Elk and Blowing Rock.

I've seen folks on telemark skis out on the slopes at Sugar once in awhile.

Have you aware of the weather this year. It's 55+F at 3K feet.

Not everywhere in WNC and certainly not today. It was close to single digits in Banner Elk this morning when we got up. It snowed all day yesterday and there's still a light dusting of snow on the ground today. Low tonight in the teens and single digits again tomorrow night. A little more snow in tomorrow's forecast. Of course it's nowhere near enough natural snow for cross country skiing, and the article linked in dawg's reply clearly said that cross country skiing in NC can be iffy most of the time. However, the OP was not asking for a detailed weather forecast
