BI-LO #5620 is a supermarket located at 651 West Mills Street, Columbus, North Carolina 28722-8407, the southeast quadrant of West Mills Street and Shuford Road in the town of Columbus in Polk County, North Carolina. It opened in 1993 as store 220. It became store 620 in the early 2000's after Ahold, BI-LO's former owner, acquired Bruno's and renumbered BI-LO stores into the 5xx and 6xx range. BI-LO #620 became store 5620 in 2012 after BI-LO acquired Winn-Dixie and all BI-LO stores were renumbered into the 5xxx range.

Well if BI-LO can't compete effectively with Food Lion, then that does not bode well for the long term future of the company. If Ahold-Delhaize can upgrade Food Lion to the level of their Giant divisions, then BI-LO's days may be numbered in markets where they coexist.
Food Lion #510, 250 West Mills Street, Unit 5, Columbus, North Carolina 28722-9450; and IGA, 370 South Trade Street, Tryon, North Carolina 28782-3710, will be the remaining supermarket in Polk County.
Ingle's #205, 1851 Highway 14 East, Landrum, South Carolina 29356-9698; and BI-LO #5085, 1750 Highway 14 East, Landrum, South Carolina 29356-9727, are south of the South Carolina state line. I have heard Ingle's #205 does more business and sales than BI-LO #5085, BI-LO #5620, and Food Lion #510 combined. I can say the parking lot at Ingle's #205 is constantly full and the parking lot at the other supermarkets are usually empty. Factors could include South Carolina not taxing food and South Carolina's lower gas tax.
