How about some general need's. Looking to buy a house or going to build . How close to town or in town . Acreage or lot .

I would stay check out of Yancey Co , Mitchell Co , Madison Co to start with . Look on line at the counties for info and towns aand most have facebook pages . Check Zillow for housing , spec land size and asking cost and use google map to get a better view of surrounding areas see if anything fits your interest or buget enough to take a look around .

We preferred Yancey County to finish raising our kids and have spent the last 24 years here with our first 42 in SW FL . Find a place in one of the valleys where in some of the higher ridges protect you and find out you can get less rain , less snow , less wind and milder temps and no tornado's concerns do to surround ridges if you get luck with your pick that can be found in and in much of the more developed areas yet still close enough for a shorter drive as when needed . We live 20 minutes from weaverville , 30 35 from asheville .
