SECTION 1. Section 11.52.020 of the Code of the City of Wichita, Kansas, shall read as follows:

Unlawful parking--Exceptions. It is unlawful, except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in obedience to traffic regulations or the directions of traffic control devices or a police officer:

Are you sure that you copied this correctly? If you have it looks like you might want to take the bus. Go downtown and have the city personnel explain the mess. It looks like the City of Wichita tried to change some of its parking laws and the person in charge messed up. Have they placed this on a sign yet? How big is the sign? I would think a simple NO PARKING would be better.

I think this is referring to not parking close to where anyone will make a turn (into or out of a driveway, alley, or street). In otherwords, keep an 8 foot space clear on either side of wherever someone will be turning.

I do believe that this is in conjunction with a parking ticket that involves, either A parking too close to a corner (15 ft I believe), or too close to a driveway (4ft I believe). Hope this helps.

I believe this is correct. Sounds like its intent is to prevent folks from parking within 8 feet of either side of an access point to a street. Most cities have such ordinances. Ordinances are often difficult to understand because of the word structure.

I live in Wichita, Kansas and I have a neighbor who happens to be a police officer who lives directly across the street from me. He is now parking his large van less than 6 inches from his own driveway. I cannot get out of my driveway very easily and I do not want to get too close to his van or hit his van. This same neighbor also has huge dents on the side of his van -- I think he wants me to hit his van so that he can then demand payment for repairs to an already damaged side of his van. I know that I cannot address this issue with him directly as he tends to get very nasty with me at the slightest thing he can think of anyway. What can I do???

Take time stamped pictures and measurements marked off in the pictures documenting the previous damage to his Van and the distance from the driveway. Most cities have regulations in place making it mandatory to leave a certain distance from a parked vehicle near a driveway. I have a $50 cell phone that takes decent pictures and if you have to you can send them to his Chief anonymously. Now if he is the CHIEF you may have a problem.

I live in south Wichita and would like to know if it's legal to park on the grass in your front yard or on the unpaved side of a single lane paved driveway. Also, is it legal to park a vehicle in the street without any tag what so ever?

Where is it ok to park a 25 ft. Motorhome at my residence? It is tagged and has insurance.

If you are in an HOA, you may not be able to park it anywhere there.
