Why are so many people moving out of Hillcrest Estates Mobile Home Park in Altoona, Wi?The park is so quiet, I have a hard time believing that all of these people are being evicted. The lot rent is comparable to other Mobile Home parks in the area, cheaper than some, more expensive than others. The park is beautiful, with lots of trees and wildlife. So is it because the manager is a moody jerk who is best avoided at all costs, or is it because the roads are terrible with so many potholes and speed bumps, or is it something else entirely?

I moved our in June of this year. I have wondered also why more people did not live there. All the MHP I have gone thru here in central WI seem to be near full capacity. I know the roads are very bad. Sad but the roads are best in the winter when all the ice is frozen on them, smoothing them out! I hear they have a new owner and management...They needed it. Last fella would rather drive people out instead of bringing them in. Hence higher rent every year. Manager worked about 3 hours a day. My old neighbor said I was lucky to sell my place and get out while the getting was good. I believe he was right like I didn't know it already. Good luck to the people left behind and I hope new ownership and management is better.

Default Hillcrest Estates

Great question. I work for the company that recently took over Hillcrest Estates in Altoona (https://www.hillcrestestates.net)

As you probably are aware, we took over the community back in fall of 2017. We know that the road has been a major issue for everyone. There is over 10 miles of the road in the community (it's a big community with 500+ lots). In last two years, we made a huge investment to improve the road. We repaved the the major roads in the community. This year, we are planning even bigger road improvement project - addressing smaller roads.

We purchased the community because it has great potential, like earlier comment. The community is in a great location, have great tenants, spacious, safe and quiet.

In last two years, we have seen a lot of improvements. We also have heard a lot of positive feedback from tenants and people in town. Many people have been purchasing homes and moving in. We also have many former tenants moving back in, so we feel really good about it. (Here are some testimonials)
