Maybe you can help me clarify this.
Pardon me, if I have misquoted or misunderstood, but I believe that I read a post or two that stated that, to their surprise, they received a bill from what I think was their county of residence for doing work on their road or something connected with their property. I also think I read (may have been in the same post) that part of their assessment included what I think was a separate bill for personal property.
In searching on the all powerful web, I haven't found anything that leads me to believe this is true relative to regular residential property. All that I have found is that there is additional taxation on business property for personal property and fixtures at that property.

OK....catching up as iirc, you are thinking of moving here to nekoosa area.

I'm not a tax guy--there are people for that, but if you are questioning your property tax bill, contact your local assessor's office /clerk of courts and have them explain it to you. areas can have an additional assessment for any work done that could be tacked onto their tax bill.

if this is a business related one, you should have your own tax guy for your business as the tax regs are changed every year.

thanks....tho not sure what I've done, i'll take it.

oh and some additional tax levies have expiration dates, when whatever they did is paid off. the trick is, a lot of government likes to keep their current revenue stream, so it's hard for them to give it up....

Imokyurok,

I just caught this post and what I think you are asking about can and does happen in WI. Example is you live in a city in WI and they redo your street and side walk or perhaps your side walk is getting bad so the city decides to replace it; many times but not all, you are responsible for the replacement cost. A number of years ago I lived in a city in which they put in curb and gutter, the cost of doing this was added as an assessment to my property tax bill. My portion of the cost was based on the street frontage i had so if you had a large lot or corner lot it cost a lot more.
