More updated facts per US Census 2013

Milwaukee County Population 956,000
Size 241 Square miles
Population Density 3955 per square mile

Brown County Population 250,000
Size 616 Square miles
Density 468 per square mile

Dane Population 509,000
Size 1197 Square miles
Density 421 Per Square mile

If Brown County had the same Population Density of Milwaukee county it would have a population of 2,436,000 and Dane county would have a population of 4,734,000.

As far as building up, Dane and Brown will never be close in my lifetime. What you fail to mention is that Milwaukee County lost almost all of it's population in one decade(70's), since then it has been stable and has began to grow again. I expect slow, but steady growth in the decades ahead for Milwaukee, same for Brown County. Brown county went from 16.5% in the 90's to 9.4% in 00's to the current 2.5%, Milwaukee went from -2.0 in the 90's to .8% in the 00's to 3.0% now, if anything Milwaukee is gaining ground on Brown and if figure remain consistent will overtake Brown in growth. Dane County will continue to have above average growth and be near or at the top in the state.

Just looked at the US Census website Brown County QuickFacts from the US Census Bureau.

Here is the percentile growth from 2010 to 2013:

Brown: 2.7%
Dane: 4.5%
Milwaukee: 0.9%

The Wisconsin average is 1.0% so both Dane and Brown continue to surpass the state average.

Your correct. I had Brown County at 250,000, not 254,000. This would put Brown County at 9% for this decade, not 2.5% or a gain of 22,000. Milwaukee at 3.0% for this decade would gain 28,400 residents.
