I recently was offered a job at a local business and, therefore, gave my 2 week notice to my then current job. It's now been almost 2 weeks and I can't seem to get a start date from my new job. I am feeling very uncomfortable and was wondering if anyone else has had this experience, if so, what did you do?

I've never given notice without a unconditional confirmed (in writing) offer and start date first.

How do you give two weeks notice when you don't have a start date?

Did they give you the offer in writing? Typically the start date is included in the offer letter.

As for what to do, I'd contact your former employer about possibly returning or withdrawing your resignation. Or if that isn't possible, start sending out your resumes for other jobs. At this point, I wouldn't count on this new employer ever coming through with a start date.
