A lot of "creative-type" companies tend to have lax policies on alcohol consumption during work. I know a girl who works for an agency that does the advertising for a local whiskey producer and they're always getting hooked up with drinks during the work day. Also, I think some banks have policies such as "No more than two alcoholic beverages during lunch".
We allow beer and wine in the office after 3PM M-Th, and after 12PM on Fridays. But we're a small company. Even with this policy, most people won't drink until later in the day.... they have too much work to get done.

I used to manage a very High-End Floral business in Beverly Hills. We kept a full bar and fridge w/champagne and wine for our clients...specially fun were the Brides and their Mothers...lolol...nothing loosens up the old pocketbook like a few glasses of champagne.

One plumbing company I worked for had a friday afternoon beer fridge. We would have a shop meeting every Friday afternoon and beer was provided as a thank you from the owner.
Trust me, if you really want a bunch of hard working, blue collar construction guys to show up to hear someone *** at them for an hour, you have to supply beer.
Sadly, the lawyers and the company's insurance company put a stop to all of this.......
I worked for a internet startup in Chicago, River North specifically which is where all the online media/ advertising comapnies are for the most part.
We had beer in the fridge all the time, also after work if you went out with work people even if it was just two of you you could expense your bar tab and food.
We have multiple fully stocked bars where I work. Everyone is really good about itthough and we only drink after 4 and if we don't have anything scheduled. we always have a keg or two at our company events
I worked at a hillbilly machine shop for 6 months. The truck and hi-lo driver would arrive in the afternoon plastered sometimes. Just the guy you would want to share the road with... I know my supervisor didn't like it, but the owners always turned a blind eye towards it.
