Im in the process of getting my security license in New York City. Tomorrow I will get my 8 hour certificate and then, I will get my fingerprints.
The head guy in charge of the security school said that I should get my fire guard certificate, but I said i feel like it isn't necessary. Does anyone know if the fire guard certificate is really essential?
And are security companies flexible with work hours? The reason im asking is because i'm in school.
I cannot speak with experience about the fire guard certificate, but in general, if one can get a certificate that has some value with minimal cost and effort, go for it.
As for the hours, I know an older guy who does security work on the night shift, and I think he's on that shift because his day job would otherwise interfere, so there might be some flexibility, though you'll have to speak with more experienced folks for more info.
