I work in an industry where BUY AMERICA is MANDATED by the federal government, particularly where it comes to steel.

In my personal life I buy America whenever possible, regardless of price. There are certain items you simply can't procure as buy America, but even if something is more expensive, if it's made here I'll pay extra for it. And if locally grown or made, even better. I paid almost twice as much for Florida grown produce in the market last week than what I could have bought central American sourced, but I figure that money will trickle back through our local economy and benefit all of us in the long run.

Telling people they should buy American made products doesn't work. You tell them this, and they agree but go to Walmart anyways because it is cheaper.

People respond to the Market. The System is where the problem is. So they have to find a way to make imports more expensive to equalize the competition. Americans don't like to hear that it will be more expensive to live. So that's not about to happen thus it's likely to crash.

This has always been the "strong" argument but it's a fallacy.

I may not want to do those jobs but many American will. Somebody always will. If I were out of job and can't pay my bill, I'd clean the toilet. I frankly don't see working is a problem. In fact, I did janitorial work when I finish came to the country. So don't give that "they are doing the job Americans don't want to do" crap!!! With the creativity Americans have, someone may even come up with some ingenious idea to clean toilets quickly and cheaply.

It is ridiculous that we have a close to 9% unemployment rate but we have 13 million illegal immigrants here stealing our jobs and draining our welfare system, not to mention it's a slap on every law abiding citizen's face.

I haven't shopped in Walmart in over a decade.

By the way, another one that should be on the list is ALDI. Foreign owned and mostly foreign goods sold there. But again, people will shop there because they might save $3.

1. Eliminate or reduce corporate tax. Once we make doing business cheaper in America, all the businesses would rush back. Overall, America is indisputably the best place to conduct business in the world with its political stability and law of land mentality.

2. Get rid of the illegal immigrants. Not only they are a big drain to our welfare system, they also occupy a huge job market. There are very cost effective ways to get rid of them.
I dont think reducing corporate taxes is going to be effective when other countries are paying their employees $1 hour.
Getting rid of all the illegals is only going to work if Americans are going to fill the majority of jobs the illegals are doing now, migrant farm labor, nannies, house cleaners,servants..
Buying American is a great idea but going to most big box stores there isnt much of a choice as almost everything is made somewhere else and if you do happen to see something made in America its usually more expensive.

So spend a few extra shekels and buy the American made product. Why wouldn't you?

I got no problem paying a bit extra to buy products from my country but usually the difference is 20-50% more and thats if you even have the option of buying American..Things like electronics, home appliances and kitchen gadgets and most clothing arent made in America any more, food is also fast following this trend...

So spend the extra 20-50%.

By the way, Bosch builds appliances in the US. It's the primary reason I bought a Bosch dishwasher last year. And I didn't look at the price tag when comparing it to other models. Saving AMERICAN jobs is far more important than paying a few bucks more.

Kinda depends on the product, i dont mind paying an extra $10-$20 for American made but if that difference starts getting into the $100's i just cant afford it..

PS. i thought Bosch was a German company..

I think my Bosch was about $50 more than the competing made in Mexico and China brands. So I paid about 8% more to keep Americans working--small price to pay in my opinion.
