I am basically a youth care worker. I do exactly what the job title implies. However, I am also coordinator of some of our organization events. It's a small organization. I work 20 hours or less a week, and have done so for the past 10-11 months or so.

I have a MSC in CJ and another BA unrelated. The only thing I wanted to do with the CJ degree is be a parole or probation officer. In hindsight, I probably should have gone for social work. Oh well! I expanded my search the day after I started applying. lol. I go for stuff in the social field that doesn't ask for Social Work qualification. There's actually quite a lot if you don't give a hoot about what part of the map you're applying to. The point being, I don't necessarily lack jobs to apply to. Mind you, I wish there was more in Canada.

Anyway, I don't have any connections left. I had two of them. I got ref/etc and eventually an interview. Two and half hours later all three interviewers made it seem like a lock. Two weeks later one of them called me to tell me they went with an internal applicant. My other connect put in a word. I've been communicating with this lot for 3 months with nothing coming out of it besides volunteer work.

Experience wise, the above is all I have for my field. Beyond that, I have heavy customer service experience, several stuff in my 16-19 years age that won't make any difference, volunteer work teaching, habit for humanity house building, and some research stuff.

Advice???????????

Move?
Go abroad?

I don't know what else you can do except try a different part of the country.

Good luck.
