I work remotely for a company in California. For the past year I've been living in Florida. I consider it my permanent residence- I grew up here, went to school here, all my mail gets sent to florida, I have a Florida drivers license, etc. I recently moved to New York temporarily for a change and my employer changed my state income tax to New York. I still travel back to Florida every 2 months without fail, tend to stay around 2 weeks, and I imagine I'll be returning there by the end of the year. Can I ask to have my state income tax switched back to Florida?
I would think that you would pay taxes in the state that you operate from the majority of the time or that you have property in or that you are registered to vote in.
