Illinois seems to be a good state. I know people earning $35,000 to $40,000 with basic CompTIA A+ certifications.

Come to Denver home of IT jobs. Kaiser just put their entire IT infrastructure in Lone Tree, CO. I do basic to int IT work and get e-mails every week for more entry level stuff, around $12-15 hr. There are a lot of programmers here, the closer you get to Colorado Springs the more you need clearance, DOD work.

I agree Denver/Boulder is a good place to start. Only bad thing about Kaiser is they outsourced their recruiting to India. Seriously. I was contacted, (voice mail), called back left message, recruiter said she would email me details and never did. Their loss and I was moving to Florida anyway. Sad, the people at Nelnet who were laid off with me are still all looking for jobs, but a lot of them had good severance packages and then start UIB. If the employer is offering less than they're making on UIB, there's no incentive for them to start looking until they have to.
