It seems like people here don't believe in taking breaks at work here? Has that become a bad thing or even making a phone call to a family member is that a thing of the past? I recall my dad calling my mom every day from work and I used to call my husband when I worked? What the heck is going on these days?????

I think it depends on how passionate you are too your work and how draining it is. Plus, how often you have to goto the bathroom or catch a glass of water. Some can be controlled, some can't. I know sometimes when I had a true break, it would be me watching the clock because I get stir crazy. Other times, the length wasn't enough to fully recharge. However I only had two real jobs with no designated breaks. Both however would have slow periods that could be considered a break by some.

It's going to depend on the job. A desk worker many times can get up to go to the bathroom while others, say a teacher, can only go at lunch or during planning.

An assembly line worker would be the same as a teacher.

I dont understand people who dont take breaks. Like is working through lunch going to get you higher on the corporate ladder? Not in my experience. To do that you need to arive early and stay late.

It depends on what level you're at in the organization. People who clock in generally get breaks. People in management usually don't take them. That's not to say they don't waste time during the day, however.

I believe in employees taking breaks and eating lunch away from their work station. There are a number of times a year when we have periods of intense activity and a lot of overtime, so we cater in food to make sure everyone can sit down and eat a meal sometime during their shift.

If you are so overburdened that you must eat at the desk and not take breaks, your firm needs to be more efficient or hire more personnel.

If that is directed at me, I never said that our employees don't take breaks and must eat at their work station.
