I applaud you, seriously. How you sit in front of a computer for 8 hours a day, listen to middle aged women talk about their vacations, or even give a damn about fiscal reports boggles my mind. Enjoy your suits, frequent flier miles, expensive parking, mid ranged sedans, and Excel spreadsheets. I want none of it. I did it for 2 years and hated it by end of 1st year. So I thought "Hey maybe it was just the job"...NOPE. Two weeks into my new office job and I already hate it. I hope I get fired because I'm not dumb enough to quit. You can take your fake hellos, stupid office chatter about vacation spots, babies, sports, meetings, and financial reports and shove them you know where. I am fortunate enough to figure this out in my 20s instead of my 40s where I would be more likely to become a disgruntled employee and go on some type of rampage...although the thought has passed my mind occasionally.

Anyways, good luck to all of you professional office workers and office worker hopefuls. Once I've saved up enough cash I'm quitting this office BS, shredding my diploma, and never looking back. If money means that much to you...by all means enjoy you cubicle. Enjoy being herded in and out like cattle...I will not do it for the rest of my life. It's a necessary evil, office jobs, but I will leave them for those who value stability over sanity. I'm not hating on people who don't mind office work I'm just saying it ain't for me. Peace.

Lol, I'll ask my wife to say Good morning to you @ the Starbucks near our house when she picks up her coffee. I'm sure she'll recognize you as the grumpy barista.

This is from the guy who told us he was living in a homeless shelter and worried about winter coming, and didn't want to have to live on the streets. So now you are complaining about actually having a job and might be able to sustain yourself.

I've mentioned this before and I will say it again. You need professional mental help and need to be evaluated. You see everything as negative and it can't be 100% negative, it just can't be. It's you that's the problem and this isn't normal behavior. It has nothing to do with being in an office, you could be doing anything else and still have this attitude. You need to address this problem now before you move once again and try any other career options. You mentioned your home family life wasn't good, all the more reason for you to get professional help because you aren't coping well.

Office work IS prison hell. Even prisoners can sleep all day and get a free education. Unfortunately, it's the only type of work that will pay anything decent.

I most definitely am living in a homeless shelter. Oh the job is a good thing, money is money. I just mean long term I can't do it. I'm the problem? sure maybe, or maybe its all these people who pretend like they're happy? Who knows we're trained to be fakes. You say how you really feel and you'll get you head bitten off.

Not wanting an office job automatically condemns me to Starbucks? Thank you for your cattle mentality. Tell your wife I said good luck.

Compared to my previous stints working as a convenience store clerk, pizza delivery driver and landscaper, I will take the office gig, where I can play on the internet and flirt with the hot chicks

I do not argue with this. If that is what you want then more power to you.

Why don't you look into doing something different? Do construction, fitness, non-profit, etc. etc. etc. You aren't chained down to the job. You realize you hate it, so change it!
