The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) is a community service and work-based job training program for older Americans. Authorized by the Older Americans Act, the program provides training for low-income, unemployed seniors. Participants also have access to employment assistance through American Job Centers.

These places are a joke, and they don't help you. They assume that you have no skills at all, and want to help you do a resume. I'm a senior, was laid off from a high paying adm asst job, and have never been able to find another one.

All the businesses want young, bilingual college graduates, they're paying $10 per hour, and they get them right out of college.

This service told me that they will pay me minimum wage till I find a job and need to take a test from them so I can be placed in the right job. I have too wait till I'm 55 because I'm only 54 right now.

Thanks for the information.

I have found that many places actually want older people who market themselves as ''retired''. Many are usually part-time jobs, but not always. They want older workers who will show uo on time and have a positive work ethic.

We just hired three people through this program. They came as temps and have been with us about a year before being hired permanently. They have great attitudes and work ethics and we're happy to have them.

Did the Job counselor at this program schedule you for any interviews?
