Hi, curious on how to respond to situation. I am changing job's soon this week, Friday. If I get a job offer from another employer hoping soon say by Thursday...since changing departments and starting new position. Do you believe I should still.give a two week's notice?

So you were scheduled for an internal move but you are leaving the company instead? Just making sure I an understanding you clearly.

The conscientious way to handle this is to approach your manager and let him or her know that you are starting a new job outside the company in two weeks. Ask if they would like to me you to remain in your current position until that time or if it would make more sense to make your pre-arranged last day in that role be your last day with the company. There is zero reason to move forward on transitioning you into a new internal position for a week or two.

It is a jerk move. However, been trying to hold off this move for a month to the new position until I found another job. It is coming down to the wire so keeping fingers crossed one of the five interviews comes through.

Yes, you should still give a 2 week notice as a courtesy. No, you should not tell your boss you are interviewing outside of the company, because if you decide to stay it will forever taint your reputation. Companies are not loyal to you, there's no reason you need to feel guilty about interviewing for a different job as long as you are doing your work well at your current job and you give proper notice.

You should always give notice. Always.
