A lot of people take things personally that are just bureaucratic process/decision making. That doesn't make it any less painful to the person on the outside looking in.

There are also a lot of people on forums that think that 9/11 was a govt. conspiracy. Should we conclude that because of their personal anecdotes this is indeed true as well?

Perception =/ Reality.

As government becomes a greater and greater percentage of the economy, businesses that want a piece of that pie will have to play ball with whatever mandates (both written and unwritten) government entities wish to hand out to them. If you don't play to the man's rules your business will be denied access to government backed loans, government business, and your business will wither competing against those businesses who do comply. And the bigger business that comply very well will semi merge with government, employees will be exchanged between the government and these corporations, and the bigger more important corporations will be given oligarchy status. Competing with them will be almost next to impossible. Things like e-verify and credit checks will also begin filtering through your social media and background to detect any attitudes that conflict with the government-corporate's prevailing ideology. If you don't tow the politically correct line jobs will become more difficult. So will travel.

Some of you might detect that this is already happening. To the original Op I say careful what you wish for.

By your logic then there are also a lot of people who say they have brown hair on here, but we cant be sure theres brown hair? Youre basically saying that nothing said on this forum actually matters...what then is the point of the internet and the ability to communicate openly and freely? You have to have SOME trust that what people are saying is fact based, otherwise youre really just wasting your time being on here....

Weve seen the pendulum in the other direction too....read up on why we needed labor unions and on the fact that we have "generous" working hours due to 1 visionary (Henry Ford.) He would have been a stark raving liberal in todays world and his very workers would have laughed at his "progressive commy agenda"

How do they know it is fact based? The only way they can know it is fact based is if 1. The company provides them the entire applicant pool and the hiring funnel, so you can see who is being screened out at what level and why or 2. They come out and say...."well we would hire you, but we don't hire old people."

Other than that it is speculation. Everyone needs a reason to rationalize why they weren't hired. It's human nature to conclude that it was something out of your control.

I wouldn't say it takes "too long" it depends on the governmental organization. When you have a two party system, a unionized workforce, federalism and budgetary process things are not at the drop of a hat.

Unfortunately, those of us who are "professionals" don't get a 40 hour work week, overtime, or break requirements. So those laws are mostly meaningless for us. (technically, we don't get minimum wage either, but most professionals do have a salary greater than minimum wage).

Then an employer needs an "accounting manager" and the next person with accounting management experience in the queue was hired. No HR b.s., on room for discrimination, no filtering candidates based on who would be the best drinking buddy, just plain hired. Sure there are downfalls with every system we could devise but its not like the current system is exactly the best. For instance curiously in my last job about 80% of my office was young, very attractive, white females....funny how that happens....

Anything can happen when idiots are voting. Nothing is too far-fetched. A giant Homer Simpson sculpture on the moon? Vote for me!

Mostly agree, but now the pendulum swings fascist, time for people to wake up and acknowledge it, just like they did when the pendulum swung the other way and put a stop to it.
