So I applied for a job at the dept. where I live back in May of last year. Took all of my test, and passed my poly last Nov. I tried to contact my BI left a voice message but haven't heard anything back. Not sure if I should contact HR for my status or what should I do?

Just wait, it's a waiting game with applying with any Police/Sheriff Department. The entire application process typically takes 1-2 years.

Yea it seems that way with this dept. I applied to another in another city they've received my app. if I meet their qualifications, which I know I do, I should do a interview in a week in a half. That seems like their process might be much faster.

I applied and tested to a larger city Police department back in the northeast 2 years ago and just got contacted 2 weeks ago asking if I was still interested. Additionally I applied and tested to the LA Sheriff Department back in Nov-Dec and thus far have only done my written test and VPAT. I'm not expecting my psych eval, nor panel and bgc for a while. I'd be looking at starting most likely fall 2016.

Either way good luck to you Gia!

Some departments are really slow and others are really fast. I went through the hiring process with a department that did everything in less than 6 months from the written exam to starting the academy.
