I play music on a public radio station for the sheer enjoyment of discovering new artist. I also mix older music in, but the promotion of new music, concerts, and various events is what drives me. I worked on an am station for many years. I would do it again, although i now lack the passion for just playing familiar stuff that people can go on youtube and listen to anytime they want. I also have done podcast and will continue to do so. I am an antitrump left wing ranting lunatic. The true left wing version of Michael Savage with a touch of Alex Jones and Jesse Ventura. But, there s no money in it. I just do it for a hobby and always will. Even when i get back to the Southwest. If i can do an overnight on some alternative station once a week, i'd be fine with that.
I remember when AM stations were the most popular, and played music. Sure, it was mass market uninspired. Of course when everyone switched to FM, the music on that band became mass market uninspired.
You know you'rean old DJ if you worked when Directional AM was king.
