Disclaimer: this will be long so you can read paragraphs 1,3 and the last one to get the jist of my essay.

Unfortunately for me I graduated with a very narrow science BS combining different departsments. The degree was specifically designed for medical or dental entrance into school so by the time I was done I only had the basic science course in all of theae majors leaving me with limited knowledge about lots of topics in the sciences especially if I wanted to work in a lab.

The problem is my junior year was disastrous and screwed up my GPA which to me meant their was no way for me to enter medical school because I had a 2.7 GPA. So I decided to take a year off from school because my student loans weren't paying themselves. I left a very low paying job as an office assistant because the travel made no sense since I was no longer going to school in the area.

Now I graduated in 2008 and as we all know the job market was at its worst. I sent applications after applications and got some interviews and nothing materialized from it. I applied mainly as an office assistant/receptionist since that was my background. After months of this and no job I took what was suppose to be a temporary job as a Home Health Aide because I could make money and the flexible schedule would be helpful.

By the time 2010 rolled around I was still looking and nothing to show for it. I just checked out of the job market altogther and continued to Work as an HHA. Last year I decide to go back to school and quit the HHA job behind because I was starting to enter another depression phase and my anxiety was at an all time high and my social life has been non existant.

I have started sending applications out yet again. Main problem is I my skills have diminished over the years or at least it seems to HRs. Not mention people always judging me when they see my degree and my job history. Outside of health care setting my skills do not translate well and I am also looking at health care jobs since that is what I am back in school for. Any advice on how to make my resume look better for non health care related Jobs since the last thing I did in a clerical field was 5 yrs ago? I also been ommiting my degree from jobs as of late and just putting my current school and major on applications is that a good Idea.

You can focus on jobs that need both of your health care industry and clerical experience. Not just any clerical work.

Use search key words such as "healthcare office" or any combination of "healthcare" plus words like coordinator, manager, specialist etc. to find relevant openings.

You seem to have taken some challenging courses at college. Receiving lower than desirable grades doesn't mean you have not learned anything. Be proud of the fact that you've taken that challenge, and be sure that these knowledge will one way or another benefit your future.
