What career field is least likely to run background checks/care if you have a felony on your record? I'm trying to get my life back on track and have GI Bill benefits, so I could get a degree but I don't want to waste my time on a degree if I can't even get a job in the field.
Your best bet is going to be to go the entrepreneur route.
Just about every job you apply for will require a background check.
Most will not hire you because of your felony. No matter the severity.
Just the way it is. You may have a chance if you know someone in management
that can push your application through.
I would concentrate on a degree either in a trade or business/finance.
Whatever you do...don't let the no's discourage you.
America makes it extremely difficult for people with felonies to get back on their feet.
Thanks for the response. That is pretty much what I figured. I would love to have my own business, but I have no idea what type of business I'd even start. I don't really have any skills unfortunately. Plus I only have a limited amount of cash for start up costs.
Some people in the culinary field have less than clean records, so you might check into that. I'm not talking about McDonald's, but actually working in a restaurant kitchen. Check into a culinary apprenticeship, or a culinary degree at a local CC.
