A friend of mine is applying for a new job. He interviewed with the hiring manager a few days ago. He just got an email from the hiring manager telling him they have discussed internally and are working out the details. He also said "it all sounds good".

To me that's a very good sign. What do y'all think?

Yes, but it's no guarantee. Things happen, people put a stop to approvals etc...

Dad got something similar from a job he interviewed at around the end of last year. He worked with the hiring manager at a previous position, then upper management had a shakeup. He didn't get the offer until June.

Sounds like they are preparing an offer.

This is my thought, also. That's what I told my friend. When I was getting ready to offer someone, I tend to send out an email like this to ease their anxiety. I've been there, playing the waiting game. It's nerve racking. If I'm going to be working with someone, I want to ease the suffering a little bit before the official offer comes.

My friend showed me the email. It looked like a similar attitude here.

Well, that's a better sign than getting an email that says "You're no longer under consideration".

Take everything with a grain of salt. Would I turn down another offered job waiting for them to get back to me? Probably not.

Sounds promising.

But best thing to do is not to put so much hope into getting an offer, that if one doesn't come, people get devastated and bitter.

Good chance but not sure bet. I have had hour long talk with the hiring manager at off hours and gotten no offer.

Sounds promising, but until a written offer is presented, it's not official. I was once made a verbal offer, agreed to it, then the hiring manager was terminated from the position. I had to re-interview with the new manager, but did not receive another offer. Hope this does not happen with you.

Sounds good to me! (I agree that it's not official)
