I think this is true, too. Always better to say I took a class, did some volunteer work, wrote a play, etc...then I sat around on unemployment and watched the Wendy show, lol.

Bingo. Part of the reason I am leaving my current job is that because of self-created (by management) staffing issues, they have problems providing my position with coverage. They don't want to give me a second more time off than needed. I will have to quit to get serious about interviewing elsewhere.

I can imagine. It's even a pain trying to schedule interviews while working my part time office job. I have a set schedule of mornings and afternoons and the only day I'm off during the week (on Wednesdays), it's ironically the only day that never works for prospective hiring managers. So I usually have to try and find a good time for them past 2:00. Not to say that they won't interview someone later in the afternoon, but a lot of them want times earlier than that.

One lady emailed me about coming in for an interview about two weeks ago. I replied and told her the times and days I'm available (past 2PM, etc.). And of course, she never ever writes back or responds once I told her my availability.

Oh well, I'll rather take my chances applying for jobs while employed, despite the hassle.
