I have never worked contract to hire. I have a job coming up that will be this way. What I cant figure out is they agree to pay me 22/hr during the contract period. If they decide to hire me after the 6 months will my salary stay the same? I cant seem to find a good answer to this. Should I ask the company when they interview me? This is for an IT job.

I have always been able to negotiate pay and benefits when I went from temp to perm. I wouldn't ask about that stuff at the interview though. You will have time to feel your way through and prove to them you are worth keeping around during your 6 months.

Ok thanks, I have a friend that job searches and goes to interviews during his temp jobs; is that common?

I've never seen anyone doing that. Maybe he did if he knew they were not going to bring him on perm or he was just unhappy.

I consider him almost a job hopper even though that is more common these days his resume is long.
