Agreed. America doesn't plan for these things. Hopefully, we will find a way to Tweet our enemies into submission, or we can post mean things on our facepuke pages, or whatever they are playing around with these days.

Gearing up for war? Forget it. We can build small quantities of super specialized, highly effective toys. That's how the Germans lost WW2, aside from biting off more than they could chew.

Our corporations and politicians sure must hate our guts.

It looks like trump is right and the sheep of today don't wanna listen, they just continue to buy cars and stuff that are made in other countries, utter hypocrisy.
(at least no one is buying trump's clothes that are made in other countries).

It's like the ones who disagree with Ann Coulter. They don't prove her wrong, but rather just spew out nonsense.

Its a shame the US is allowing good jobs to move overseas. The elites could easily stop this, but they are paid
money to permit it. Ford contributes to the Clinton Foundation, so they have full permissionto
go to Mexico.

These are Ford's jobs, not the USA's.

I don't get it.

On this very thread earlier, a link was given to an article that showed that the UAW had much to blame for Ford moving small car production to Mexico.

And here's another link, from the Detroit News no less:

Our Editorial: UAW traded jobs for short-term gain

Quote:
UAW President Dennis Williams called the recent announcement that Ford Motor Co. is investing $1.6 billion and 2,800 jobs in a new Mexico plant a “disappointment” and “very troubling.” But it’s disingenuous for him to complain the jobs are moving south rather than growing in Detroit.

Williams and the union knew they were sacrificing jobs and future investments from Detroit’s Big Three in the United States when they pushed for a fatter contract with the automotive companies last fall. They sacrificed long-term growth, which could have included expanding small car production here, for immediate gains.

Even the union’s relative current stability, rooted in confidence they’ll continue to make high-profit, popular trucks and SUVs in the United States, could be threatened in the near future.
And yet, not only on this thread, but another thread on the same topic in another section, we still have people thinking Ford is the only entity to blame for its business decisions.

Ford is a business, and they don't 'owe' Americans jobs if it means they'll lose money making small cars in America, as compared to making small cars elsewhere. I thought some of the people who jump on the corporation bashing bandwagon believed in free enterprise.

You would think that with the internet and readily available information, people would be a lot more enlightened than to believe in convenient soundbites about how corporations are selling out Americans. Even Trump's getting in on the act.

Scary really.

But it's apparent people like the UAW leaders rely on these sorts of people to overlook and ignore the truth, and continue to blindly toe the 'evil corporations selling out the American worker' party line.

This is correct. When the automakers were sliding toward bankruptcy, the UAW worked with the automakers to create a two-tier wage system that allowed small car production to be profitable in the U.S. Once the automakers became profitable again, the UAW demanded the two-tier wages be abolished. What they didn't consider is that everyone making top tier UAW wages means that small cars can no longer be produced profitably in the US. THEY made the decision, not Ford.

Ford is hurt by the unions, but moving to Mexico is pretty low.
Eventually Ford will be 100 percent in Mexico because the labor
is cheaper and the Clintons got paid to allow it to happen. It'S VERY SAD!
It would be better to remove the UAW and keep the jobs in the US.
