Just a quick question for all my Sales People out there....
When sending a RFQ/RFI , weather a cold call, open/closed bid proposal, invention, etc...
How many times , do you get a " NO" response... Meaning I set email or call saying we are NOT giving you the business , with a explanation of why...
Going through a issue with some of my clients ( I'm in lead generation) that is upset that buyers are not giving them a "dear john" letter. They are claiming it is not legitimate/quality due to buyers NOT telling them NO - we went to another supplier.
In all my years in sales, especially in bid proposals, unless I was chosen or of interest I NEVER heard back from the buyer. IDK , maybe that was just my industry or just personal experience.
I never respond to a cold call. They go straight to delete or trash without being read. If we issue an RFI or RFQ/RFP then all communication goes through the official buyer. Then you do get a response when the decision is made, yes or no. If it's open bid, then you can be there when the bids are opened and read.
I had my own company and if I got an RFP/RFQ and I had not spoken to the end user, I would not respond to the request because I knew they only sent it to me so they could show they got 3 bids.
