This made me think of this NY Times anecdote about Katie Couric from 12 years ago.
Quote:
America's girl next door has morphed into the mercurial diva down the hall. At the first sound of her peremptory voice and clickety stiletto heels, people dart behind doors and douse the lights.
If I was playing with my phone or otherwise goofing off, I knew to stop when I heard "clop clop clop clop clop clop clop" coming down the hall.
Those were the days.
I guess the bigger question is, why do you goof off or play with your phone while being paid to work ? And we wonder why the Chinese and others are eating our lunch.

This is a farce. The Chinese economy is growing so rapidly because they're becoming industrialized. Something we did over 100 years ago. We are still one of the most productive nations in the world. We're just more of a knowledge-based economy than before.

Yes and it will eventually level off. Especially when the workers (long been happening) start demanding better wages and working conditions, environmental protections, etc.
Some manufacturing companies have already left China and came back to the US (although heavily automated) because it's starting to get expensive to produce there.
