Rohit Saksena of New Hampshire Fined $40,000 for Filing False VISA Applications, Sentenced to 3 Years of Probation - INDIA New England News

I would fine this culprit half a million dollar, because that's the money he would have collected from candidates for filing them. And every one of those applications were approved.

I agree that the fine is light, but it was probably a plea deal to avoid a lengthy trial.

I agree. The penalties should be much more severe.

I don't know about that. Capital punishment doesn't stop murder. Not arguing against a heavier punishment, but the heavier punishment doesn't always discourage bad behavior.

People can cough of money much more easily than time. While the punishment shouldn't be cruel, I feel there should be 30 days of jail time in addition to the $40,000 fine.

I think the punishment should be longer and should include community service as well as jail time.

If he is a naturalized citizen, can they revoke citizenship and deport him?

Won't stop the demand, silicon valley and all IT depts want cheap labor and ones that can't get benefits.

If they pass a law that say h1b must be paid a minimum of $150k with benefits. It will stop the demand.

Not sure they could revoke his citizenship for something like this, but it is possible for the US government to strip a naturalized citizen of his/her citizenship and deport him/her. It's pretty rare though.
