I work for an operating company, we do not own the plant we work at we just operate it and manage it, the plant sold to a new owner and our company will not be operating it, the new owners asked for emplyee's names who would like to work for them but our company denied and warned us not to contact the new company or it would be a performance issue, our company said they will ask for the names of those who wish to work for the new owners at some point and help us to get a job.
Heres what confuses me, my company wants to control my future by not allowing me to speak with the new owners and expects me to trust them in my future of getting a job when they sure seem to dislike the new owners because of their choice not to hire our company to operate this plant.
Would you trust my company to look after my interests? or would you feel comfortable in taking things into your own hands?
Here's what I've done, I sent the new owners a reume and cover letter expressing my interest in working for them and asking for them not to contact my employer at this time but allowing them to contact me at my home, do you think I've done the right thing by looking out for myself instead of trusting my company to do so?
Just curious how did this turn out? I would have done what you did.
