Just a reason to get rid of her. She was going to cost them with insurance, and if she had another recurrence of cancer, it costs the insurance company. I remember working in a place and a guy got throat cancer and they fired him the same month for no reason. He had worked there a very long time.
And yes, people are that cruel and greedy and bean countered.
