Don't quote me on it but yes, basically it would be as if the temp assignment ended.
Check with your state for sure. There is probably info on the unemployment website for CA about temp agencies and such... for example, here in TX you have to give the agency 3 days to find you a new assignment before applying for benefits. That's pretty common.
But yes, if they simply decide not to hire you (vs. you being "fired") it would just be "temp assignment ended".. and if they can't find you something new then you would probably be good to go on getting UI again. You'd have to start over with a new claim most likely though.
