Has anyone had any experience where a position that is not posted on the company's website?
The position is posted on a professional organization's job board, that I am a member of.
What puzzles me is there are other positions on the company's website, and it's a generic email to forward my resume.
The website uses a standard applicant tracking system.

It's possibole that the company has already reviewed internal candidates and decided for any number of reasons to only look at external candidates.

Could be that the job is filled and the external site has not been updated. When was the position posted?

Then possibly the companies website takes longer to refresh. Maybe they only want to post it externally. Not sure. Odd though.

Well, the position is in Manhattan, the company was started in 2004, so it appears to be a start-up and a financial services one at that.
It was wise for the company to post using my professional organization, rather than using their site.
Though I am not sure of any other reason.

Another LinkedIn story. I noticed a position posted as "exclusive to LinkedIn" yesterday morning. It was not posted on the company website. One of my connections provided me a referral to a high level person in the hiring company who provided me with a referral to the HR person for the position. May not pan out, but it sure beats a blind submission into a database.

So, yes, it can happen. In this case, the recruiter was probably able to put the posting up on LinkedIn faster than the company web team could put it on the company site.

My OLD company NEVER put any jobs on their website. They posted them on monster.com. They also did not have a physical job board for postings. If you wanted to transfer to a different dept. or another position internally, you had to go ask HR to "keep you in mind". Or talk amongst the departments and drop hints you would like to work there.

Ridiculous.
