Family friend graduated from college earlier this summer and has an offer with a large insurance company to be a claims adjuster. Anyone out there with any experience with this kind of job ?
I think it's a great career. It can't be outsourced to China and there is tons of room for growth. A senior commercial lines adjsuter for a major company can make close to--if not over--$100K a year.
This is an excellent opportunity out of college. I recommend the lucky person to not only take advantage of this situation but to also really learn about the insurance business from the claims side as well as underwriting. The skills that will be gained can transfer into so many other fields if the person ever grows tired of the service side of the insurance business. Also, pickup as many licenses and experience as possible, to be versatile and flexible in the market.
