I am thinking of changing careers and I am willing to start at entry level to break into the field, but want to know that I will not go backwards too much in the pay. Are there favorites sites that survey salaries and maybe have forums to discuss careers? I am thinking of going into video technology by the way.

Likely depends on the size of the company and field you may be looking at. I've found glassdoor.com to be quite useful in researching prospective employers and their salary ranges.
Glassdoor is, supposedly, input from current and former employees. Salaries are listed as a range by position. Having reviewed the data on my former employers, I find it reasonably accurate. But it won't take into account current salary deflation.

The only problem with glassdoor is that it's usually a small sample of people. So if your looking for the salary for a systems analyst at ABC company, there might only be 1 person from that company who decided to share his/her info - so your not really getting an accurate representation.
The forums on Indeed.com have a lot of people discussing salaries for many positions (there's usually a specific thread for each company if you search it.) I also used to use vault.com but I can barely navigate that site now that they changed the format of the site (I can't find the salary surveys anymore- what a shame, it used to be a good site as it was). I also used glassdoor during my search for salary info.

Hence, my original post re: size of company :^}
