Now I am well aware that the older generations of people from these countries know about the current affairs all too well.

However, for the United States at least, it appears that most people do not care about what is happening with the Ukraine (Unfortunately). This especially applies for the American Youth, I.E. people aged 18-35. I was wondering if the most of the European and Russian youth feel the same way.

If possible, I would like to hear from young people from all sides, Americans, Russians and Europeans!

The first thig you should know is that the first activists who raised first maidan in november 2013 were actually students (17-22 years). Russian and ukrainian young people are still greatly involved in the conflict. The difference is that ukrainian youth are worried about their country whereas the russian ones are just happy that Ukraine is now being ruined.
So answering your question — yes, people of ages 18+ (I'd even say 16+) does know and care. Can't really say about America and Europe though.

Ok--I'm not a 'younger person' but am American and have been watching the coverage regarding the Ukraine and the downed plane all week, including a lot of coverage of The Netherlands. I figured with everyone discussing it here and on the news, and with the incredible emotional trauma of this event, that there would a massive amount of discussion. So I went to the Europe forum and was really surprised to see that most of the threads were about mundane things concerning summer break and vacations.

Maybe I do watch too much news coverage, but I had just read that the Dutch were now becoming angry after the grief, and I expected a lot of conversation regarding the events of the past week. I was really surprised to see nothing, as this was a fairly massive event affecting Europe and may have widespread consequences and implications.

I think a large minority of Americans (18-35) care, but are just grossly misinformed. I had a friend tell me about how ISIS shot down a plane in Ukraine yesterday.

Also, I think we're finally starting to feel some war fatigue. The public isn't too interested in letting our brothers, sisters, cousins and friends die over something happening in another continent. Again.

So far, I’ve gotten that sentiment from most of the folks around me.

Because european goverments are trying to keep people calm. Maybe that's why news about rus-urk conflict are not forced in their media so much. But I also agreed that it's not enough what european countries do for stopping russia. That means their people are not involved as well.

Well that's one viewpoint. Hopefully there will be more comments soon!

Yeah, I saw the same thing with Syria... After that I think our govt decided it was best not to even try to drum up support for action in Ukraine.

Americans know and care but are sick of getting pulled into wars that don't have anything to do with them and are of questionable purpose.

I think that due to the downing of the Malaysian jet in Ukraine more people than before of all ages care about the situation there.

Age 24. I take more of an interest in it than perhaps I would if I weren't descended from relatively recent (grandparents) Ukrainian immigrants.
