Cities I'd never been and would love to visit:
-Havana, Cuba
-Portland, Oregon
-Montreal, Canada
-Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
-Quebec City, Canada
Not fair that Mexican cities get axed as its part of north America. I would rather go to Mexico city and the colonial cities of Mexico over that list.
I agree and other Central American countries too. Panama City and San Salvador for example are incredibly interesting cities. Then you have to include the Caribbean as well. Solely focusing on Canada and the US is very narrow minded.
Already been to NYC & Atlanta and have seen pretty much entire Central and Southeast Florida.
NYC and Atlanta were only short stays (weekends) but i will go back to New York for sure, when money is good, I want to check out everything in a period when it's not raining/snowing with temperatures below 10 degrees celsius (unlike my last visit -October, 2011).
1.New York City
2.Los Angeles
3.San Francisco
4.Chicago
5.Las Vegas
6.Honolulu
7.Boston
8.Seattle
9.Washington D.C.
10.San Diego
11-20 (no order):
Vancouver
Phoenix
Denver
Dallas
Houston
New Orleans
Atlanta
Philadelphia
Toronto
Montreal
Not ranking Miami and Orlando, been there to many times already.
The list is mostly comprised of Alpha+, Alpha-, Alpha and Beta Cities. I've traveled in Old Mexico and Canada, and most of the U.S. I would much rather bypass the expensive tourist cities as there is so much more to see and learn in North America than there is on one more list of cities.
I've been to Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, NYC and Washington DC - so I'll leave them off the list. However I would say all - except perhaps Ottawa - are essential to visit if you want to understand North America. I really enjoyed NYC and Montreal - and will be going back.
Other cities I'd like to go to: Portland, OR - I'd like to witness a bit more of that super-liberal vibe you get a bit of in Brooklyn. These kind of places are important for Europeans to go to just to proove the US isn't just guns, God and gross food!
San Fran - ditto, plus the natural setting and harbour seem amazing.
Mexico City - Biggest city in the Americas, centre of the Spanish speaking world, crazy urban buzz...got to see it one day.
Would also quite like to visit New Orleans, Miami, Quebec City, Chicago, and Havana, but they're not RIGHT at the top of my list.
