In my country the Philippines, it is Adobo and Caldereta. Adobo is chicken or pork cooked in vinegar, loads of garlic, laurel leaves, achuette and soysauce. Caldereta is Spanish influence, rich stew cooked in tomato sauce and has potatoes, carrots, peas and green olives.

Spaghetti which is present every birthdays to symbolize long life.
Grammelknödel: Dumplings filled with pork greaves (?). Those dumplings are found in Northern Lower Austria (with potato dough as in the picture) and in Upper Austria (with dough made out of regular flour). Some sort of cabbage dish on the side.
Schweinsbraten: Pork roast with dumplings (made out of stale bread or potatoes) and Kraut. Popular all over Austria. Everyone's favourite. Same thing can be found across the boarder in the Czech Republic ("vepřo-knedlo-zelo").
In NYC, a typical meal can by anything as there are so many immigrants from around the world and restaurants of all kinds of ethnic groups.
