Are most world conflicts these days basically about 'religion'? (2014, vs.)

I'm thinking of the Irish "Troubles", Middle Eastern Sunnis vs Shiites, Christian Serbs vs Muslim Bosnians, American "liberals vs social conservatives (aka Fundies), Israeli jews vs the Palestinians, extremist Muslims vs Christians, etc..
If so, is it on the rise worldwide (as some suggest), and why now in such a "secular" and "hi-tech" time?
Religion was also a major factor in the Vietnam war (South Vietnam's Roman Catholic president Diem, oppressed the Buddhists which made them favor the Communist Viet Cong) and the Rwandan genocide (Catholic Tutsi's vs. non-Christian Hutu's) as well as in the recent breakup of South Sudan (whose people are non-Moslems and were oppressed by the North Sudanese Moslem regime).
Although it's seldom reported in the media, many thousands have been killed in the decades-long standoff in the Kashmir mountain region which is disputed between (most Hindu) India and (Moslem) Pakistan. Also, don't forget the conflict in Chechnya, the Moslem region in southern Russia.
No, it's not. Making the fight about religion is intended for easy consumption by the gullible and the fool. The root has, always has been, and always will be, over money

Money, power and resources. Religion is merely a scapegoat so people can just hate it and ignore how greedy the leaders are.
The thing is, religion is only a point of conflict when religious identity becomes politicised. In countries where people of different religions have different political allegiances, different economic fortunes, different regional localisations and different identities that's where you get conflict. Otherwise, religion usually isn't an issue, just like race, language and culture.

^ ^ Understood, although beyond religion, is there really that much difference between, say, "social conservatives" (aka, Fundamentalist Christians) and other Americans? Or say, Sunnis and Shiites? And can you even separate out 'religion' from all those other variables?
All wars are about money, power and land and nothing else.
