I don't want to sound boastful , but I believe I know every corner of my home country ( continental France) save Corsica and the overseas territories (of which there still are a lot, funny for such a "progressive" country...)

Nah, that's impossible.
For example I bet you've never been to Valenciennes or Châtellerault
I've been throughout every state on the East Coast from Maine down to Florida in addition to Puerto Rico.
Also-Ohio, Illinois, California, Nevada. I have plans for Louisiana in July and Colorado in the Fall and want to see Oregon, Washington, New Mexico, Hawaii someday soon. After that I think nearly all of my big trips will be international.

It doesn't sound boastful. It's easier for people who live in smaller countries to see more of their countries.
Considering how big they are, I've seen a lot of Australia, the US and China. I've been around Australia by road (and been to all 6 states and 2 territories), and crossed the US by road, so have crossed 2 continents. Also seen quite a few places in China. Visiting an American state is like a European country, so my 15 countries isn't really representative of how widely I've travelled.

What's wrong with both? Try Vierzon or Vesoul.
I used to outline places where I've been to (by land or sea) on maps at the end of my notebook in middle school. Geekiness at its finest. Here's the digital, updated version:
Been to all departments on the "continent", but never to Corsica or overseas. Didn't see much of Spain either it seems. The biggest city I've never been to is Saint-Etienne, near Lyon.
