So Mexicans are as much happier as Europeans, and happier than Americans and Canadians?
This map does not see any happy country in Africa except the Island of Madagascar.

This is kind of true. I had a Mexican neighbor who was always playing guitar and drums with his kids on week-end. It was nice !

Different languages have different shades of meaning for words like "happy", so it is impossible to ask the question with uniform connotations in all countries. No matter how the surveyors translate the question, it is going to have different interpretations in the minds of the sampled respondents.

Also, people who are empathetic will have different criteria for what makes them happy, than people who are selfish, because their happiness will be a function of their neighbors' well-being, not just their own. And people are more likely to report being unhappy where the media is cynical. regardless of whether factors exist to make people happy, which would have a lot to do with America's low score..

If you were asked, on a scale of 1-10, "Are you happy", how would you answer the question? Would the time of day or the day of the week or the season of the year make you answer differently?

Complete BS.

Why is Kuwait unhappy?

These guys have it so easy. They tend to have have lavish homes (like McMansions), they have maids and butlers, they get paid by the government and some even live off welfare.

I will be very happy living there.

Iraq should be way less happy than Kuwait anyway, considering ISIS and other turmoil.

Hilarious map. What a joke. India and the Arabian Peninsula as happy? Might want to ask the millions of slaves.

In 2012, Denmark was named among the happiest people on the Planet. They came out on top as one of the "Ten Happiest Countries in the World", but on OP map they are pretty unhappy...
Another happy people suppose to live in Ireland, Netherlands, Finland and Canada, but not on OP map.

Now, tell me why people in India and Pakistan are so happy? Or Cubans...
Those countries are so desperately poor, and most people live in squalor and misery.

I guess when you don't have much from the start, you don't have high expectations in life so smaller chance for those to feel disappointed/not satisfied.

cubans are WAAAAAAAAAAY more relaxed, easy and enjoying life kind of people that overworked have **** tons of stuff and owe tons of money Americans or Western Europeans.

money doesnt dictate happiness
