London is also home to an international coach station at Victoria, which like the American Greyhound coaches links the entire UK and much of the continent of Europe and people travel to London via coach from all over Europe, in the same way that Americans travel across the US on Greyhound coaches.
From NYC there are trains that go to Canada. The destinations that I know of are Toronto and Montreal.
I also know that you can take a train from Southern California to Vancouver in Canada and it does have sleeper/coach cars as well as cars with regular seats (which are kind of like airline economy class but with lots more legroom).

I thought there would be some sleepers from NYC, as the US is a vast country.
I do hope they start new direct sleepers running through the Channel Tunnel, now that the tunnel is to be opened up to competition from companies such as German Rail Operator Deutsche Bahn whilst new Eurostar services to the South of France and Alps are being introduced.
I would love to see A Blue Train (Le Train Bleu) type service to Nice reintroduced possible from London using the Channel Tunnel as well as night services to cities such as Frankfurt and Berlin.
There is no through train to Vancouver; a trip from here (actually Emeryville, just across the bay) would involve changing trains in Seattle. And the trip would take about 30 hours to go 1100 miles.
There is no long-distance passenger rail service to (or in) Mexico.

I guess I should have been more accurate. There are trains with sleeper cars between Los Angeles and Seattle. From Seattle one can connect by train all the way to Vancouver.

From NYC there are trains that you can take your car on to go to Florida. Also I would assume that there are sleepers that go across the USA, but I don't know if any cross the border into Canada from the NYC area.

Would love to go on one of the US or Canadian Sleeper trains, as I love sleeper trains and indeed night ferries with cabins. Much more civilised than flying these days.
