These two regions are quite similar to each other, and probably more so than any other place on the planet. They are probably the only places where you can find a large expanse of interconnected fjords and water passages. there are other places with amazing fjords such as Norway and New Zealand, but you have to travel through open seas to enter a new fjord. These two places both have similar oceanic climates with relatively dry summers and wet winters. The inland/inside passage is everything from Olympia, WA to Haines, AK and the South American variant (if you know the name please state it) is everything from Puerto Montt, Chile to Puerto Williams, Chile. Of these two places which do you think is the best in terms of:
.geography
.climate
.beauty
.flora
.fauna (both terrestrial and marine)
.cities
.outdoor activities (boating, swimming, kayaking, surfing, skiing, camping, hiking, etc. )
. and anything else worth mentioning.

I personally believe that southern chile is underrated. though I don't quite know yet which is better. I also happen to live right next to the puget sound. Also if you know of any other system of waterways that comes close these two, please state it. the only other one I can think of is maybe northern Antarctica (south of Chile)

I wonder how many have been to both (for North America, north of Vancouver). Large sections of the BC inside passage are incredibly inaccessible, especially if you try to go any ways inland from the coast.

Coastal Norway is similar in geography, but higher in latitude and much less remote.

That zone of Chile is underrated because is very hard to access. I hope they will end the Carretera Austral soon. It will improve the connection there and boost the tourism i think.
In think that in terms of geography/beauty both regions are a big win! you can't go wrong with either of them. Maybe southern Chile/Patagonia has a slight more diverse flora than Inside Passage, wich is more coniferous/pine oriented. But the advantage here for NA are the big cities. You wouldn't find a counterpart to that in Chile. The only significant city in that zone es Punta Arenas, wich still just doesn't compare with Vancouver/Seattle.
