I wasn't going to choose one over the other. My comment was in response to your ridiculous statement.

Claim your reasoning in an explanation. Why anywhere in Kazakhstan over any area of Turkey? They have some noticeable common similarities with an in between Europe and Asia exotic encompassing reality, and a secular relatively progressive Muslim majority nation.

Kazakhstan arguably might have more of a better 2nd city(Almaty and Astana) compared with Turkey outside of Istanbul, yet there is a higher amount of larger cities there(Ankara, Izmir, Bursa, Adana, Gaziantep, Konya, Antalya all have 1 million+ people).

Turkey might seem more mountainous, yet Kazakhstan has some of neighboring Kyrgyzstan's high mountains right in the country, some even higher than Turkey or Austria's mountains, and taking up more space than expected. Turkey has the Mediterranean and Black Sea, yet Kazakhstan is technically not landlocked with the Caspian Sea.

I am astonished Aktau Kazakhstan is not heavily built up as a touristic beach destination like Baku on the other side of the Caspian Sea or even Constanta or Varna. Historically, something went wrong or a bit off with Aktau. Outside of Baku Azerbaijan, maybe the Caspian Sea is not reaching it's full potential.

Kazakhstan is probably more stable than Turkey lately, yet Turkey is peaceful enough outside of the southeast border micro zones.

Neither. Yet Dakar seems more of a destination, and might end up one of Sub Saharan Africa' most beautiful cities, other than Cape Town. I wonder why Dakar is not referenced equally as much compared with Cape Town, Nairobi, Accra, Lagos, and Maputo Mozambique.

Next: Phuket Thailand OR Hoi An Vietnam OR Phnom Penh Cambodia

Refresh my memory.

By the way, I was in both Turkey and Kazakhstan in the past two months. Unless I'm missing something, the whole thrust of this topic is to elicit the personal preferences of the users, even if un-annotated, not to enable you to pass judgment on those preferences or the reasons whereby they may be embraced, and certainly not as a vehicle for you to cast aspersons on other posters..

I have my personal reasons, based on personal experience, for preferring Kazakhstan overf Turkey. Those reasons may or may not be your concern, but nevertheless I harbor them. And I was asked my opinion in proper compliance with the thread format..

The idea that 'anyplace in country x is better than anyplace in county y' is absurd, especially when talking about a country as rich in regional variety as Turkey.

Which means what, exactly? Did you travel extensively though both countries?

I didn't cast aspersions on you, I simply pointed out that one of your assertions was silly.

And I have no issue with your preference. Obviously some people would prefer Kazakhstan over Turkey, just as some (including a number of Kazakhs) prefer Turkey over Kazakhstan. The OP did request that posters provide an explanation for their reason, though.

I hear Iguassu falls is pretty awesome, though.

Next Poster:

Marrakech

Better food, more interesting architecture, much more interesting 'culture". Democratic Republic of the Congo rated the most corrupt nation, more crime, more instability.

Port Elizabeth or Pretoria
